About the position

The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician at St. Anthony Hospital plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the ambulatory pharmacy department. This position involves the distribution of drug therapy under the supervision of a pharmacist, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, and adhering to hospital policies and procedures. The technician is responsible for various tasks including order entry, medication preparation, insurance billing, and maintaining inventory, all while contributing to a safe and efficient pharmacy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and enters pharmaceutical orders in systems.
  • Prioritizes and organizes daily work for optimal operations of pharmacy.
  • Prepares and distributes medications in accordance with American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) guidelines.
  • Maintains proper stock levels in assigned pharmacy locations.
  • Performs insurance billing and administrative support functions.
  • Contributes to the department's safe and accurate operations.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
  • One year of hospital work experience or hospital rotation within an accredited training program that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities preferred.
  • Current License as a Pharmacy Technician by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy.
