About the position

The Ambulatory RN 2 at Rush University Medical Center is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care in the Urology Clinic. This role involves establishing therapeutic relationships with patients and families, implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes. The RN will utilize evidence-based practices and demonstrate accountability for their professional practice while supporting clinic goals and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes a caring, therapeutic relationship with patients and families through effective communication and mutual goal setting.
  • Implements a plan of care that incorporates the unique characteristics of patients, families, and communities.
  • Maintains positive, professional relationships with all members of the healthcare team through effective communication.
  • Utilizes resources to effectively resolve conflict and improve team relationships.
  • Coordinates care using the nursing process and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Utilizes evidence-based ambulatory care nursing interventions during clinical visits and communications.
  • Communicates current evidence-based strategies and standards of care with peers.
  • Participates in quality initiatives, research, and development of care protocols.
  • Demonstrates accountability for implementing policies related to medication administration and patient procedures.
  • Applies the teaching-learning process to meet the needs of patients and families.
  • Assesses patient safety needs and implements strategies to minimize risk.
  • Recognizes changes in patient status and responds effectively to optimize outcomes.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize care for complex patients.
  • Utilizes competent assessment skills to evaluate the physical and psychosocial needs of patients.
  • Establishes regular communication patterns for the transition of care.
  • Demonstrates accountability for own professional practice and progress toward goals.
  • Considers resource utilization when delivering care.
  • Supports clinic goals and participates in nursing shared governance.
  • Collaborates with clinic personnel to ensure task completion.
  • Provides education to staff and/or students in the clinic.

Requirements

  • Current RN license and credentials by the state of Illinois.
  • At least one year of nursing experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Baccalaureate level) for those hired after January 1, 2014.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Analytical ability and communication skills to lead and teach.
  • Ability to interact effectively with others in difficult situations.
  • Ability to check documents for errors and use a keyboard for data entry.
