About the position

The AME Process Engineer at Trane Technologies is responsible for designing and developing manufacturing processes, systems, and automation to meet quality, cost, and schedule requirements in the Printed Circuit Board Assembly business. This role involves creating concepts for new products, integrating specialized processes into a lean manufacturing environment, and ensuring the effectiveness of manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for key business processes, including component placement, soldering, test and assembly (both automated and manual).
  • Design, document, implement, and execute manufacturing process systems for HVAC Controls using automation controls, sensors, and database connectivity.
  • Manage all Capital Planning, including vendor selection, budgeting, and management of spend.
  • Drive engineering principles and discipline mentoring, training, and project reviews through Design for Manufacturability and Assembly, Ready to Serve, and Advanced Product Quality Planning.
  • Collaborate with vendors and equipment manufacturers for selection, installation, and validation of process systems.
  • Conduct process qualification activities to ensure processes meet specifications and create documentation for new processes.
  • Evaluate and implement innovative, cost-effective, safe manufacturing processes and techniques.
  • Develop manufacturing planning, tooling requirements, capability requirements, control plans, and assessments.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership for resolving manufacturing process and product design problems.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of manufacturing flows, workstation layouts, and organization.
  • Lead Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities and report on system health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience within a PCBA environment is required, with 10 years preferred.
  • Previous experience with automation equipment, sensors, and tooling.
  • Experience with ERP and PLM systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge in Oracle and SQL Database Tables, Procedures, and Scripts preferred.
  • Experience in OPC connectivity and setup for local and remote equipment interconnectivity.
  • Experience with a variety of industrial controls and applications is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of test system functionality or programming.
  • Experience in commissioning, programming, and troubleshooting of process and/or test equipment.
  • Experience with reading & reviewing equipment drawings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience and/or training in Lean Manufacturing.
  • New product launch and project management experience.
  • Knowledge of advanced quality and design techniques.
  • Knowledge of life cycle cost analysis, dimensional capability analysis, and capacity analysis.
