The American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter position at Therapeutic Outreach, Inc. involves providing interpreting services for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and hearing consumers across various settings. The role requires effective communication, professionalism, and adaptability to new technologies while ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Provide interpreting services for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and hearing consumers in various settings.
- Deliver effective video relay service, video remote interpreting, and on-site interpreting for customers and patients.
- Maintain a respectful and professional attitude while providing excellent customer service.
- Exhibit professional behavior, including punctuality and preparedness for shifts.
- Interact respectfully and collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors.
- Ensure timely and accurate record keeping.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Adapt quickly to new and changing technologies.
- Multitask between interpreting and utilizing video-based technology.
- Interpret effectively in American Sign Language and spoken English.
- Meet performance expectations with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of and adherence to the RID Code of Professional Conduct.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience preferred, but new graduates will be considered.
- Must meet regulated licensure and/or state certification requirements.
- Demonstrated high-quality American Sign Language and spoken English skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with video relay service and video remote interpreting.
- Familiarity with the RID Code of Professional Conduct.
