About the position

The Network Engineer (NE) position at Ciena is designed for new graduates who are passionate about technology and eager to contribute to network design and engineering. This role involves creating network designs, executing reconfiguration and migration services, and serving as a technical advisor to customers. The position is part of a structured 6-month development program that provides hands-on experience, technical certification, and opportunities for networking and mentorship with senior leaders. The NE will play a crucial role in implementing upgrades and ensuring the integrity of customer networks while developing strong business relationships.

Responsibilities

• Implement complex upgrades of Ciena equipment on customer's In-Service networks without impacting the services provided to the end user.
• Deliver and own Network Engineering documentation for customers via the Engineering Method of Procedure (EMOP).
• Validate the actions taken by the field team are executed properly as per the steps detailed in the Engineering Method of Procedure (EMOP).

Requirements

• 4-year Engineering Degree
• Very strong communication skills — verbal, written and presentation
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities
• Ability and aptitude to handle competing priorities
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships

• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Previous technical/co-op work experience a plus
