About the position

The Associate of Portfolio Management at HASI will play a crucial role in supporting the review and analysis of the company's existing investment portfolio, as well as assisting in the due diligence of new investment opportunities. This position requires a strong analytical background in renewable energy project finance and the ability to manage financial models and data effectively.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed performance reviews of the operating portfolio of grid-connected or behind-the-meter investments, focusing on production, revenue, and operating expenses.
• Manage data flows from investments and integrate them into the internal database.
• Build and manage financial models to analyze project economics and assess risks.
• Collaborate with the broader portfolio management and investment teams to achieve objectives.
• Prepare briefing decks and reporting materials for management, synthesizing asset performance and identifying avenues for improvement.
• Support due diligence processes for debt/equity investments and acquisition activities, analyzing production, operating expenses, and merchant curves.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year institution or a Master's in Finance, Economics, or Business.
• 2-5 years of experience in renewable energy project finance/valuation or finance/investment banking in the power sector.
• Excellent MS Excel financial modeling and data mining skills, with experience in complex models.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Dependable, reliable, and able to work independently while being a supportive team member.

Nice-to-haves

• CFA Charter holder or CFA candidate is a plus.
• Experience with modern data analytics and reporting tools such as Business Objects, SQL, SSMS, SSIS, R, PowerBI, and Tableau.
