About the position

The Business Intelligence Analyst at Temple University plays a crucial role in utilizing data and information to address organizational issues and identify solutions through data visualization and interrogation. Reporting directly to the Director of Business Intelligence, the analyst will work closely with the leadership of the Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) to understand their needs and locate relevant data sources. This involves assessing and manipulating data using various reporting and analytical tools to present information in a meaningful and actionable manner. The analyst will be responsible for integrating data from disparate sources to provide new insights and will design and develop visualizations, interactive dashboards, and other displays to effectively communicate results. Additionally, the analyst will perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall mission of the university. Responsibilities

  • Utilize data and information to answer questions and address organizational issues.
  • Work directly with LKSOM leadership to identify their needs and locate relevant data sources.
  • Assess and manipulate data using various reporting and analytical tools.
  • Integrate data from disparate sources to provide new insights.
  • Design and develop visualizations, interactive dashboards, and other displays to communicate results effectively.
  • Conduct quantitative research and present analytical studies in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
  • Understand user reporting requirements and develop reporting/visual designs that meet end-user needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Health Information Management, or another analytical or quantitative field.
  • Five years of experience in a relevant field, with two to three years specifically in business intelligence or data analytics.
  • Significant experience with Business Intelligence toolsets.
  • Knowledge of data warehouses, data marts, data modeling, data mining, and database management.
  • Proficient in SQL with the ability to query complex data sets within a relational database.
  • Superior communication, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PowerBI or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence dashboard design concepts and best practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite software programs.
