About the position

The Compensation and Benefits Analyst at The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is responsible for managing the day-to-day compensation needs of the organization, including job grading, base pay administration, and market analysis. This role also supports the benefits function and involves participation in salary surveys and compliance activities. The analyst will work closely with the International Compensation Analyst to ensure continuity in processes and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day compensation needs including job grading and base pay administration.
  • Perform analysis for job offers, promotions, and reorganizations.
  • Respond to job offer requests from Talent Acquisition within 48 hours.
  • Conduct market pricing for new, modified, and repurposed positions.
  • Evaluate and grade jobs to determine appropriate fit into job architecture and salary structure.
  • Assist with the Annual Merit Increase process and track spot bonuses and other compensation awards.
  • Maintain and audit the job description database.
  • Perform compensation research and analysis using market data systems.
  • Ensure the integrity of employee data through regular audits.
  • Provide timely responses to inquiries regarding compensation.
  • Monitor and update employee tenure, experience, and education data.
  • Partner with Payroll, HRIS, and HR Operations to ensure quality of employee data.
  • Participate in annual salary and benefit surveys by gathering data for vendors.
  • Support the Benefits function with new hire enrollment and other tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or a relevant field, or equivalent work experience required.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of compensation experience and at least two (2) years of benefits experience required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of compensation administration, compliance, and practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of benefit program administration, compliance, and practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and evaluate complex data.
  • Very high attention to detail and commitment to performance improvement.
  • Strong editing and grammar skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS usage, with knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Some knowledge of international compensation is a plus.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $70,000 - $83,000 per year
