About the position

The Analyst of Credit and Energy Risk will support the risk management of energy marketing and trading activities across Clearway's portfolio of renewable and conventional generation assets. This role involves managing counterparty credit risk and market risk, ensuring compliance with risk policies, and understanding emerging risks in North American wholesale energy markets. The position offers exposure to various functions within the commodities trading world and reports to the Manager, Credit & Energy Risk.

Responsibilities

  • Assess initial and ongoing creditworthiness of counterparties through thorough financial analysis.
  • Establish credit lines with counterparties and ensure appropriate collateral and credit support arrangements are in place.
  • Oversee daily margin calls and assist Front Office functions with compliance and negotiation of commodity agreements.
  • Create and maintain dashboards presenting positions and exposures, including credit exposures and Value at Risk.
  • Report credit exposures, risk assessments, and operational risk issues to senior management and the Energy Risk Committee.
  • Collaborate with Front Office and Back Office staff to achieve productive outcomes.
  • Assist in automating reporting tasks and prepare materials for the Energy Risk Committee.
  • Ensure accurate recording of counterparty and contract information in Clearway's system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in economics, finance, accounting, business, mathematics, or related discipline.
  • 1-3 years of credit and/or market risk experience in an energy trading or commodity environment.
  • Solid credit analytical skills with experience negotiating energy-related agreements.
  • Strong Excel skills for financial analysis and credit reporting.
  • Effective communication skills to relay complex issues in an executive-level format.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with a curiosity to learn.

Nice-to-haves

  • Direct renewable energy experience.
  • Knowledge of power markets (ERCOT, CAISO, PJM).
  • Understanding of derivatives (OTC forwards, swaps, futures & options).
  • CPA/CFA designation (or progress towards).
  • Advanced skills in programming languages, PowerBI reporting, and Bloomberg.
