About the position

The Analyst, Credit Ratings position at Morningstar involves analyzing credit risk in asset-backed securities (ABS) transactions. Responsibilities

• Analyze the credit risk in ABS by performing collateral analysis, modeling transactions, and reviewing associated documentation.
• Develop a strong understanding of structured finance and ABS fundamentals.
• Assume a portfolio of transactions to surveil after proper training.
• Interact with team members to learn departmental techniques and automation.
• Develop practices to query and verify data.
• Utilize original thinking to extend in-place automation.
• Assist the team in building various databases.
• Participate in credit rating committees and help prepare committee presentations.

Requirements

• Completed a bachelor's degree in finance, mathematics, engineering, economics, or a similar quantitative discipline.
• Excellent quantitative and writing skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Curiosity and capability to turn intuition into usable tools for departmental efficiency.
• Knowledge of a programming language other than VBA.
• Ability to balance multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Ability to analyze large data sets and deliver largely error-free conclusions.
