About the position

The Analyst, Data and Analytics at UChicago Medicine is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of system-level data throughout the reporting life cycle. This remote position involves developing organization-wide reporting, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and maintaining data best practices to support executive decision-making and data quality improvement efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Manipulate data from source systems to define rules for reporting, including cleansing data for datamarts.
  • Collaborate with Report Sponsors to create complex reporting suites that provide actionable insights.
  • Mentor Analysts on report writing and development best practices, providing validation for data queries and report outputs.
  • Create measures for reporting purposes, defining populations and setting organizational targets.
  • Lead projects to completion, working with interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely delivery of work.
  • Maintain an appropriate portfolio of work, updating reports and queries to match current specifications and technology.
  • Develop rules to diagnose the health and stability of system-wide reports and measures, complementing enterprise-level rulesets.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, business decision support/statistical analysis, healthcare administration, or a clinically associated health care field with strong statistical analysis; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data systems, analysis, programming, and technical design, preferably in a healthcare setting, with proficiency in SQL and other programming languages.
  • Minimum 3 years of report-development experience using current BI tools, with Tableau as a minimum requirement.
  • Advanced skills in current BI tools and demonstrated technical knowledge of data systems and query languages.
  • Strong understanding of information technology in healthcare and technical creativity.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles, data collection, analysis, and reporting methodologies.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and accreditation standards such as CMS Conditions of Participation, IDPH, MACRA, etc.
  • Proven project management skills and experience.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and translate technical language for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and public speaking.
