About the position

The Data Governance Analyst will serve as the primary compliance contact for the implementation and oversight of the agency's Microsoft Purview application. This role focuses on managing and governing data across various sources, including Microsoft 365 applications and other data environments, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies. The analyst will be responsible for data cataloging, classification, lineage, insights, and compliance, while also coordinating data retrieval and public records requests.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary compliance contact for Microsoft Purview implementation and oversight.
  • Implement and oversee eDiscovery processes for document searches.
  • Organize and index data assets for easy discovery and understanding.
  • Apply labels and tags to data based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements.
  • Track the origins, movements, and transformations of data throughout its lifecycle.
  • Provide analytical capabilities to derive insights and enhance decision-making.
  • Ensure data usage complies with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Coordinate with departments to retrieve requested data and compile documents for disclosure.
  • Communicate with requesters to clarify requests and provide updates on processing status.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Data Governance to develop and revise data management policies and SOPs.
  • Monitor and interpret federal and state data protection laws and regulations.
  • Develop training materials and conduct sessions on data governance policies and procedures.
  • Assist in developing and designing data management applications and systems for public health purposes.
  • Support projects funded under the CDC Public Health Infrastructure Grant, focusing on data modernization.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe.
  • Experience in utilizing Microsoft Purview for data governance frameworks.
  • Experience conducting eDiscovery Premium searches.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards governing the management of sensitive data (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, NIST Standards).
