About the position

The Analyst - Data Governance & Management role at American Express focuses on managing and governing data within the Finance department. The position is part of the Financial Reporting Quality Assurance Organization and involves collaborating with various teams to ensure data quality and compliance with governance policies. The analyst will be responsible for producing analytical reports, dashboards, and scorecards, as well as supporting regulatory reporting needs and driving strategic improvements in data management processes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the Enterprise Data Governance Policy for Finance Data Governance.
  • Produce data quality scorecards, dashboards, analytical reports, and attestation packages for all processes in scope.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of data quality issues and assist in remediation of Audit and Regulatory feedback.
  • Support strategic improvements to data assessment processes and enhance data analytical and quality tools.
  • Support current Regulatory Reporting needs by collaborating with upstream data providers and downstream business partners.

Requirements

  • Strong relationship skills and communication abilities to partner with multiple groups.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to manage multiple assignments and projects concurrently.
  • Strong Excel and other technical skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collect business requirements and guide the implementation of technical solutions.
  • Prior experience with implementation of data governance and data quality programs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Agile or SAFE project methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2-3 years of experience in Finance and Controllership strongly preferred.
