About the position

The Data Protection & Privacy Analyst at United Airlines plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of Data Protection & Privacy programs. This position is integral to ensuring compliance with governing regulations and internal policies while collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance cybersecurity practices. The analyst will work within a strategic cybersecurity team to uphold the organization's commitment to data protection and privacy, contributing to the overall mission of making United Airlines a leader in cyber safety.

Responsibilities

  • Assist team with the implementation of the Data Protection & Privacy strategy & programs.
  • Provide daily support in the implementation of end-to-end capabilities such as Data Governance, Data Protection, Data Privacy, Data Rights Management, Data Encryption & Tokenization, Data Classification, and Data Security in the cloud.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to evaluate potential compliance areas and document gaps to ensure full compliance with data protection & privacy regulations.
  • Interpret relevant laws, regulations, policies, and related guidance to enhance processes, policies, standards, or programs in support of cybersecurity responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or Computer Science.
  • 3+ years in a STEM-related field.
  • Understanding of Data Protection and Privacy standards and regulations local, domestic, and global.
  • Skill in communicating with all levels of management, including interpersonal skills, approachability, effective listening skills, and proper use of style and language for the audience.
  • Ability to perform in a dynamic environment to deadlines, with the ability to address multiple activities concurrently.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.

Nice-to-haves

  • CISA Security + certification.
  • Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security.
  • Knowledge of security engineering and architecture concepts.
  • Knowledge of cryptography and cryptographic key management concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with Data Protection & Privacy vendors, tools, and products capabilities.
