About the position

The Analyst, Financial Risk Management at Uber is responsible for executing the Financial Risk Management strategy, focusing on building elite SOX and Second Line Internal Controls support programs. This role involves implementing controls to mitigate financial reporting risks across various finance functions, collaborating with external auditors, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work with control owners to evaluate, design, develop, and implement effective financial and compliance controls.
  • Collaborate with emerging business divisions to establish an appropriate control environment.
  • Implement new processes and controls in response to changes in the business environment.
  • Build and maintain flowcharts, narratives, and control documentation for key processes.
  • Perform management testing of controls and suggest improvements to control owners.
  • Coordinate risk assessments to ensure compliance responsibilities are met.
  • Map regulatory requirements to common controls to identify gaps and provide recommendations.
  • Support remediation activities by providing control design recommendations and facilitating discussions with control owners.
  • Communicate and educate process and risk owners on the importance of controls and an effective control environment.
  • Support internal partners in understanding risk, internal controls, and potential findings.
  • Participate in Second Line Internal Controls support program governance and lead training sessions.
  • Facilitate status reporting across a portfolio of projects and prepare communications for senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit to improve processes and coordinate remediation plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in audit, controls, compliance, consulting, or risk management.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills across various stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA preferred or in process of obtaining CPA (other qualifications that would be a plus - CA/CIA/CFA/CISSP/CISM)
  • Experience in a Big 4 accounting firm or the internet/technology industry.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Experience managing and remediating deficient controls or internal control design gaps.
  • Process management experience, including process redesign and optimization.
  • Experience with basic SOX processes such as Cash, Financial Close and Reporting, HR, Payroll, Treasury, and/or Revenue processes.
  • Experience with Environmental, Social and Governance reporting and disclosures.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, ASC 606, SEC reporting requirements, and SOX requirements.
  • Experience with Oracle R12 or another large scale ERP.
