About the position

The Analyst, Global Ocean Freight plays a crucial role in supporting Hershey's Global Logistics strategy and implementation. This position involves collaboration with various teams, including International Supply Chain, Finance, Domestic Transportation, and Procurement, to manage ocean and drayage transactions effectively. The analyst will maintain a comprehensive understanding of import and export lanes, assist in rate negotiations, and provide analytical support for the RFQ process, ensuring the company's logistics operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates new lane setups for ocean freight and drayage to support shipments to export markets.
  • Supports logistics analyses for new product and innovation launches.
  • Aids Global Ocean Freight Manager and Procurement teams in providing historical and analytical results for RFQ processes.
  • Acts as a super user of the logistics visibility platform (Buyco).
  • Collaborates with Supply Chain and Business Process teams to recommend improvements to the Logistics Manager.
  • Supports finance requests for freight cost analyses.
  • Maintains the routing guide with contract amendments and updates to fuel schedules.
  • Creates and drives continuous improvement through scorecarding on carrier performance.
  • Works with the freight billing team to resolve Detention and Demurrage disputes.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to support company freight savings goals for ocean freight and drayage.

Requirements

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of international logistics operations and timing of key ocean transportation milestones.
  • At least 2-3+ years operational experience in ocean/drayage modes of transport.
  • Experience in analytical analysis and scorecarding.
  • Logistics tracking and analytics software experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Effective organization and project management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience in Power BI and/or other analytical tools preferred.
  • College degree in Business Administration, International Transportation & Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related degree preferred.
