About the position

The Analyst II, Market and Business Intelligence at the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) plays a crucial role in developing performance and analysis reports for Business Development. This position involves gathering and analyzing both internal and external data to support the strategies and execution of business plans for the Business Development team. The Analyst will be responsible for supporting various business units in their use of Dynamics 365, which includes providing licensing, training materials, and ensuring data quality and maintenance. Additionally, the Analyst will assist Business Development Account Managers with customer analysis, account management, and the development of chase lists, all aimed at enhancing client discussions. In this role, the Analyst will also develop, maintain, and assist other teams with Power Platforms, including Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate. The Analyst will take on project management responsibilities for departmental projects, ensuring that they are executed effectively. Furthermore, the Analyst will maintain and administer both internal data sources, such as data warehouse cubes and shared Excel workbooks, and external data sources, including Clarkson's, IHS, AXS, Kpler, and VesslsValue. The Analyst will be tasked with developing strategies for the Global Business Development department, which includes creating Annual Business Plans, Sales Targets, Product Commercialization Plans, and conducting market analysis and research. They will also perform competitor analysis, assess industry trends, and forecast future developments. Monthly Business Development calls will be hosted by the Analyst, and they will assist with audit preparations by gathering and analyzing historical profit and loss data for fleets, ultimately producing a lifecycle profitability map. Collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams will be essential to facilitate various projects effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Support Business Units use of Dynamics 365, including Licensing, Training & Materials, Walkme / D&B / LinkedIn Sales Navigator connections, and data quality/maintenance.
  • Support Business Development Account Managers with Customer Analysis, Account Management, Chase list development, and data gathering/analysis to support client discussions.
  • Develop, maintain, and assist other teams with Power Platforms (Power BI, Power App, Power Automate).
  • Support and lead departmental projects as the project manager.
  • Maintain and administer internal data sources such as the data warehouse cubes (BD, CommOps, PA cube) or shared Excel workbooks.
  • Maintain and administer external data sources such as Clarkson's, IHS, AXS, Kpler, and VesslsValue.
  • Develop strategies for the Global Business Development department including Annual Business Plans and Sales Targets, Product Commercialization Plans, Market analysis & research, Competitor analysis, Industry trends and forecasting.
  • Develop and Host Monthly Business Development Calls.
  • Assist with Audit preparations.
  • Gather and analyze Historical P/L for fleets and produce lifecycle profitability map.
  • Collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams to facilitate projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or an engineering technical field is required.
  • MBA or engineering postgraduate degree is preferred but not required.
  • 2-4 years previous related experience preferred.
  • Experience in the marine, offshore, or industrial fields is preferred.
  • Programming experience in R/Python and statistical analysis desirable.
  • Experience with Microsoft Platforms, including Power Platforms, Dynamics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Highly proficient in PC skills, including Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint.
  • Clarity and conciseness in oral and written communications; demonstrated capability to produce effective presentations for delivery to both technical and non-technical audiences.
