About the position

The Information Security Analyst at Fulton County Schools is responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and security of data, systems, and networks. This role involves performing cyber security and data analysis, serving as a technical security liaison, and implementing various data security technologies and methodologies to mitigate risks to the District's information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily threat reports and security logs for unusual events that could pose potential threats to the District's enterprise networks or systems.
  • Collaborate with IT Management to develop strategies and plans to enforce security requirements and address identified risks.
  • Act as a liaison between incident response leads and subject matter experts, following up on security-related task assignments.
  • Assist engineers with troubleshooting and identifying the root cause of security-related incidents and threats.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on newly released security patches and monitor the patch management process.
  • Develop reports to share with administrators about the efficiency of security policies and recommend changes.
  • Assist with the deployment and support of Data Loss Protection solutions for on-premise and cloud services.
  • Support ongoing Security Awareness training goals to educate staff and students on potential threats.
  • Train technology engineers in implementing security best practices during system integration.
  • Manage daily administration of District firewalls and end-user device theft prevention tools.
  • Develop Incident Response procedures to detect, contain, and mitigate security incidents.
  • Establish procedures to protect digital files and information systems against unauthorized access.
  • Participate in organizational projects as required.
  • Perform vulnerability testing, risk analyses, and security assessments.
  • Support infrastructure during emergency situations and respond to security incident support as needed.
  • Research, evaluate, and provide recommendations for new or updated information security technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology specializing in Systems and Network Security or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Information Technology field, with at least 1 year in Information Security managing Firewalls and IPS technologies.
  • One of the following certifications: CompTIA Security+, EC-Council Certified Security Analyst, Certified Ethical Hacker, CCNA, or BCNE preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of information risk concepts and principles, and application of security controls.
  • Technical knowledge of operating systems (Windows/Linux, IOS) and security technologies.
  • Experience with network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Proven analytical problem-solving skills using various troubleshooting technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a public school district preferred.
  • Knowledge of Cloud computing security controls and SaaS best practices.
  • Experience with forensic investigative software and penetration testing tools.
