About the position

The Analyst, International Logistics Compliance is responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. import regulations and managing customs processes. This role involves overseeing the activation and management of Foreign Trade Zones, handling compliance issues, and collaborating with various departments to optimize logistics operations. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee zone or sub-zone activation, de-activation, or alteration and file annual reports with the Foreign Trade Zones Board.
  • Maintain expertise in customs regulations and broker practices.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. import regulations and proper use of Harmonized Tariff classification numbers.
  • Follow internal control procedures when working with brokers or customs.
  • Handle day-to-day compliance issues that delay the clearance of goods and ensure timely delivery of freight.
  • Execute the First Sale Program in collaboration with Sourcing and vendors, identifying opportunities for expansion.
  • Collaborate with the team to minimize duties while complying with CBP rules and regulations.
  • Process Customs duties through the US Customs Periodic Monthly Statement Process.
  • Use metrics for critical events in order management flow to improve performance.
  • Ensure proper description and classification of import products according to customs regulations.
  • Assist the DC operations group in resolving shipment issues.
  • Interface daily with Import Logistics, Global Sourcing, and Distribution Center Operations.
  • Notify involved parties about shipment status and recommend service improvements.
  • Analyze and approve broker submissions for comprehensive entry.
  • Carry out import compliance and audits in CBP programs such as C-TPAT and ISA.
  • Implement and manage Foreign Trade Zone entries and reports, completing assigned goals and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • At least five years of related customs compliance, audit, logistics, or relevant work experience.
  • Strong ability to assimilate data and make sound, fact-based decisions.
  • Analytical skills to assess current processes and recommend improvements.
  • Knowledge of U.S. import regulations and ability to classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Customs software tools.
  • Effective communication skills, including listening, speaking, and writing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of U.S. Customs and Warehouse/Distribution application systems.
  • U.S. Customs Brokers license or Certified Customs Specialist.
  • Experience in the sporting goods (apparel/footwear) or retail industry.
  • Knowledge of Foreign Trade Zone operations.
