About the position

Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: OXY) is seeking an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of IT Digital Experience Expert/Advisor at our manufacturing facilities located in Ingleside, Texas. This role is crucial in providing primary in-person and remote support to staff in resolving incidents, fulfilling requests, and implementing approved changes for IT services at the local OxyChem plants and administrative sites, including Ingleside and Markham. The successful candidate will be expected to work during core onsite hours, with occasional after-hours and weekend support, as well as travel between sites as needed. The responsibilities of this position include providing secondary support for other US and Canada OxyChem manufacturing sites and headquarters in Dallas, with potential travel of up to one work week at a time, 1-2 times annually, to provide backup on-site support and assist with new staff setup. Core desktop and field equipment support duties encompass the setup and configuration of user equipment, troubleshooting user desktop incidents, managing asset inventory, and supporting various site-specific IT needs. This includes troubleshooting Oxy mobile applications, assisting with network and server support, and developing site-specific IT knowledge documentation. The role also involves conducting end-user onboarding and training sessions, ensuring adherence to Oxy safety standards, and managing all incidents, requests, and changes in the ServiceNow ticketing system. The candidate must ensure the protection and secure storage of the IT environment while prioritizing the health and safety of employees and the communities in which we operate. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces as necessary. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma with 3+ years of professional IT experience in a Chemical Plant environment or a 4-year college degree in an IT discipline from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

  • Providing primary in-person and remote support to staff in resolving incidents and fulfilling requests for IT services at local OxyChem plants and administrative sites.
  • Providing secondary support for other US & Canada OxyChem manufacturing sites and headquarters in Dallas, including potential travel for backup support.
  • Setting up and configuring user equipment including desktops, laptops, tablets, and other peripheral devices.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving user desktop incidents including hardware issues and Microsoft Windows operating system problems.
  • Managing and maintaining asset inventory, including ordering and receiving IT equipment and equipment retirement.
  • Troubleshooting conference room audio/visual equipment and providing support for Xerox printers/plotters.
  • Assisting with network, server, and communications equipment support and incident escalation.
  • Developing site-specific IT knowledge documentation and conducting end-user onboarding and training sessions.
  • Ensuring all incidents, requests, and changes are entered and managed in the ServiceNow ticketing system.

Requirements

  • High School diploma with 3+ years of professional IT experience in a Chemical Plant environment or a 4-year college degree in IT discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Experienced in computer imaging processes, networking hardware, and cabling fundamentals.
  • Knowledgeable in using ServiceNow or similar IT systems for managing incidents, requests, and changes.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving desktop hardware, Windows OS, applications, audio/visual, printing, and network issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of a major corporation.
  • Excellent prioritization, organization, decision-making, and time-management skills.
  • Motivated to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
