About the position

The Analyst, Merch Systems I at Meijer is responsible for defining, developing, training, and maintaining processes, systems, and tools across the merchandising organization. This role focuses on improving inventory management by modeling scenarios, designing and deploying tools and reports, and continuously monitoring performance against key inventory benchmarks. The analyst will work cross-functionally to enhance product flow performance and effectiveness, ensuring optimal inventory management that maximizes profitability and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and recommends processes/strategies to optimize inventory management performance against key performance indicators.
  • Implements methods and capabilities that support the development, deployment, and improvement of merchandising capabilities.
  • Collaborates with the business to improve tools, templates, and methods for merchandising capabilities.
  • Designs and reports on various inventory strategy capabilities to identify optimal productivity.
  • Monitors performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement in inventory management.
  • Conducts fact-based analysis on key performance indicators and determines root causes for issues.
  • Participates in projects following standard project management methodologies.
  • Works cross-functionally with various departments to execute plans.
  • Presents and communicates inventory optimization strategies with internal and external resources.
  • Collaborates with supply chain and distribution center teams to optimize efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a technical and/or process management emphasis is preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience as an analyst or developer in planning, merchandising, supply chain, or IT.
  • Knowledge of inventory management best practices in the retail industry.
  • Excellent organization, planning, communication, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Proficient in office computer skills, with a preference for Microsoft application experience.
  • Knowledge of core merchandising systems and principles including Pricing, Promotions, Replenishment, Allocation, Product Management, and Inventory Management.
