About the position

Join the Royal Caribbean Group as an Analyst in Operations Research and Predictive Analytics, where you will play a crucial role in supporting the Revenue Management Development and Systems team. This full-time position, based in Miami, Florida, reports directly to the Sr. Manager of Revenue Management Operations Research. The team is responsible for all data, decision tools, reporting, and information needs for the Revenue Management team, and your contributions will be vital in enhancing our forecasting, modeling, analysis, and reporting capabilities. In this role, you will assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining revenue management systems, Business Intelligence reporting, and user tools. You will update current statistical and modeling techniques in PL/SQL and SAS to adapt to changing business patterns and reduce errors. Your expertise in quantitative methods will be applied to forecasting, linear regressions, mixed integer programming, optimization, and statistical analyses. You will also be tasked with developing new reporting and models for the department, working closely with Revenue Management teams to understand their business challenges and objectives. Your creative thinking will be essential in delivering solutions that meet business needs based on available data and systems. You will learn to determine user requirements, develop suggestions to meet revenue reporting needs, and ensure that the tools or reports you create provide relevant, actionable revenue management-related information in the most effective format. Additionally, you will respond to ad-hoc data and analysis needs while supporting various projects, learning to navigate the DB2 and Data Warehouse systems to pull necessary data sets for analyses. Conducting statistical analyses of business data, evaluating trends and pattern changes, and presenting results in an audience-appropriate format will be key responsibilities. You will clearly explain tools and results to teams and management, developing and conducting concise presentations that communicate technical methods and their business impacts. Continuous improvement will be a focus, as you search for potential business enhancements, revenue opportunities, and efficiency gains. This position also involves financial responsibilities, supporting reporting, systems, and modeling of current and expected revenue to inform daily and strategic revenue decisions, impacting the company's annual net ticket revenue stream of over $4 billion.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining revenue management systems, Business Intelligence reporting and user tools.
  • Update current statistical and modeling techniques in PL/SQL and SAS for changing business patterns and to reduce error.
  • Successfully apply quantitative methods and techniques, including forecasting, linear regressions, mixed integer programming, optimization and statistical analyses.
  • Develop new reporting and models for the department.
  • Work closely with the Revenue Management teams to understand their business, challenges and objectives.
  • Think creatively to deliver solutions that meet the business needs, given the available data and systems.
  • Learn to determine user requirements, develop own suggestions to meet Revenue reporting needs, develop the tool or report and work with teams to ensure it meets their needs.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data and analysis needs while supporting various projects.
  • Learn the DB2 and Data Warehouse systems in order to pull various data sets required for ad hoc analyses.
  • Conduct statistical analyses of business data, evaluate trends and pattern changes, and learn to disperse results in a format appropriate for the audience.
  • Clearly explain tools and results to teams and management.
  • Develop and conduct clear, concise presentations, communicating technical methods and impacts in business terms.
  • Continuously search for potential business improvements, revenue opportunity and efficiency gains.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or Statistics preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required (in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering or Statistics helpful).
  • Two or more years of work experience in related field preferred.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical skills and knowledge of applied statistics.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement applications using a programming language, especially PL/SQL or SAS.
  • Experience in supporting and interpreting reporting using Access or Business Intelligence tools (Hyperion Experience a plus).
  • Experience in forecasting, optimization or data modeling.
  • Ability to handle dynamic workload, balancing short and long term projects.
  • Ability to interpret analytical results into meaningful business terms and translate business needs to programming and data modeling.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to business and technical audiences in both spoken and written formats.
  • Must possess strong reality check reflex and problem solving skills.
