About the position

The Payroll Tax Analyst at Kiewit Corporation will support payroll tax functions for employees in the US and Canada. This role involves processing and analyzing payroll tax data to ensure accuracy and compliance with various tax laws. The analyst will work closely with state and provincial agencies, reconcile internal tax data, and maintain relationships with external representatives to facilitate smooth operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and reconcile employee and employer taxes for multiple company entities in US and Canada
  • Research and clear refund, penalty and interest notices received from taxing jurisdictions
  • Research and resolve payment and filing discrepancies
  • Develop and maintain a positive and professional relationship with the ADP representative
  • Prepare monthly journal entries
  • Reconcile Payroll Tax General Ledger accounts and reconcile tax filings for various entities including 941's and W2's
  • Balance and analyze quarter and annual reports between ADP and SAP
  • Coordinate amended returns with ADP
  • Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external Kiewit departments
  • Collaborate with co-workers, internal and external Kiewit departments to promote continuous improvement and process excellence
  • Manage assigned cases in Service Now to resolve and reconcile employee payroll tax inquiries and troubleshoot tax issues affecting payroll
  • Resolve payroll tax issues with state and local tax jurisdictions
  • Support and participate in collaboration activities to promote and implement continuous process improvement
  • Perform other work-related tasks as needed or assigned

Requirements

  • 3+ years of general Accounting, Payroll Tax or Payroll experience required
  • At least one year of Payroll Tax experience required with advanced knowledge of payroll tax requirements including Federal, State and Local laws and compliance issues
  • Prefer experience with SAP and ADP Tax service
  • Strongly Prefer CPP or FPC certification
  • BS/BA in Business, accounting or related field preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of computers and experience in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Highly motivated and self-directed; initiative and a sense of urgency to get things done
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skill with the ability to resolve issues quickly while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; clearly conveys messages and ideas, gains understanding; generates interest and holds attention, listens and is open to the ideas of others
  • Ability to research, recommend and implement process improvement/enhancements to create efficiencies within the department
