About the position

The Analyst, People Operations and Payroll at Magnite plays a critical role in managing payroll, benefits, and HR data functions. This position ensures accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of payroll for all employees, requiring strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of payroll regulations. The role involves driving day-to-day payroll functions, preparing reconciliations, and being a primary point of contact for audit inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the day-to-day payroll functions for assigned countries, including new hires, terminations, bonuses, and direct deposits.
  • Verify payroll outputs for accuracy and submit journal entries to Accounting.
  • Stay updated on tax laws and regulations affecting payroll to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries, bonuses, and other compensation.
  • Prepare reconciliations related to People and benefits data and resolve variances.
  • Process garnishments, expense reimbursements, and monetary perks.
  • Prepare reports for state and federal filing and respond to governmental inquiries.
  • Test and implement HRIS systems to drive efficiencies and reduce costs.
  • Protect employee privacy and handle sensitive information.
  • Assist with requests from Finance, Accounting, and Audit as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of payroll, tax, or accounting experience.
  • Employee benefits experience.
  • Knowledge of payroll reporting, taxation, and general accounting.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal payroll and tax regulations.
  • Experience with Workday is a strong preference.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll software, databases, and MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Payroll certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
  • Experience with conducting investigations and recommending changes in policies.
