About the position

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is seeking an Analyst/Programmer 4 to contribute to the mission of Keeping Alaska Moving. This position is designed for a technical specialist with advanced proficiency in programming, particularly in complex software systems, databases, and user applications. The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate fluency in high-level programming languages and take initiative in engineering, operating, and maintaining custom software and interfaces. The role is critical in ensuring that the department's technological needs are met effectively and efficiently, supporting the overall mission of the DOT&PF. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical specialist with advanced proficiency in programming for complex software systems, databases, and user applications.
  • Engineer, operate, and maintain custom software and interfaces.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and analyze functional and infrastructure requirements.
  • Translate functional requirements into technical specifications for logical design.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and analyze system malfunctions to determine the source and cause of problems.
  • Develop technical and operational support documentation.

Requirements

  • Four years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language.
  • One year of experience must be in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer, or computer information management support specialty.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for one year of required experience.
  • An associate's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of required experience.
