About The Position

The Analyst Programmer at Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is responsible for the development, support, and maintenance of the plant's application systems within the IT Department. This role involves analyzing and resolving issues, writing and debugging code for desktop and server applications, and managing the Microsoft SQL environment. The position requires interaction with both internal and external users to ensure their computing needs are met, and it operates within a 24x7 facility requiring rotational call duty.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology Systems or equivalent system development experience required.
  • 1-2 years previous work experience in related ITS development area preferred.
  • Strong development and business applications knowledge.
  • Strong business analytical skills in maintenance management, AP, AR, G/L, and other critical financial applications.
  • Understanding of SQL (application and server) and Microsoft VB/C#.net languages are mandatory.
  • Proven system design methodology and application design resolution skills.
  • Experience with IT user security and operating system administration covering various platforms/applications.
  • Familiarity with IBM AS400 operations is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle numerous details, deadlines, and requests.
  • Ability to adapt and work effectively in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience investigating and resolving help desk service requests.
  • Ability to cross-train with IT staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide development, support, and maintenance for all plant's application systems.
  • Analyze and resolve problems in an expedient manner.
  • Write, debug, and support the application development life cycle of current desktop and server applications using Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Support the Microsoft SQL environment; create, update, and maintain database environments.
  • Interface with internal and external end-users to support and maintain end-user computing needs.
  • Work on help desk service requests and utilize help desk software.
