About the position

The Analyst QA position is a full-time role based in Omaha, NE, focused on collaborating within a cross-functional Agile team to enhance software quality through both manual and automated testing. The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking skills and a collaborative mindset, acting as a mentor in quality best practices while developing risk-based testing strategies and clear test plans to ensure software meets functional requirements and performance goals.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of an agile development team.
  • Collaborate with product management, architecture, development, and customers to discover, design, develop, deliver, and monitor solutions that enrich our customers' experience.
  • Develop risk-based testing strategies for the work of the team.
  • Design and implement clear, concise test plans to verify software applications and systems meet functional requirements, design specifications, acceptance criteria and performance goals for users.
  • Situationally recommend manual or automated testing where the economics/risk of the situation warrant the approach.
  • Use contemporary frameworks to automate testing.
  • Maintain a ‘test to break' mindset.
  • Proactively communicate defects/issues to team members including recommendations for correcting the issues.
  • Work with team to resolve defects/issues.
  • Focus on constant iteration of our software and be open to change and innovation.
  • Work with external load, performance, and regression testing teams to provide required input to execute respective tests.
  • Support speed of product delivery by reducing time for feedback cycles, applying quality tactics to the smallest units of delivery possible, and mentoring other team members on appropriate application of quality practices within their role.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend tools to advance quality capabilities.
  • Contribute to technical writing to promote ease of adoption.
  • Write release notes, help documentation, articles, and feature documentation.
  • Provide oral and written status to project lead and management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, Communication, English or related field or 2-5 years of QA and testing experience within an enterprise-wide environment.
  • Proficient in SOAP and RESTful API services testing.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance and testing best/emerging practices.
  • Experience with web/mobile testing or automation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with or aptitude to learn security concepts related to API services is desirable.
  • Clear, effective communication skills - Must be comfortable and willing to openly discuss work items within a cross-functional team and to provide constructive feedback.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, methodical in your approach with strong trouble-shooting skills.
  • Able to prioritize tasks according to importance and severity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with the following tools: Gherkin, Cucumber, Cypress, JMeter, and Jira.
  • Experience with REST API services is preferred.
