Ares Management's Quantitative Research Group (QRG) is at the forefront of applying quantitative analytics to private markets, working across asset classes to provide investible insights to investment teams, deepen relationships with investors, and develop new products. The QRG is recognized for its leadership in private market performance measurement and regularly tackles novel questions, leveraging Ares' privileged access to data in private asset classes. We are currently seeking an Analyst to join our Research team in New York City. This role involves working with mathematical and statistical models to address significant challenges in private market investing, including identifying return drivers and attributes of private market portfolios. The Analyst will participate in original research to produce investible information across private market asset classes and assist in evaluating clients' private market portfolios to identify opportunities for active management. Additionally, the Analyst will prepare presentations for internal investment groups, external investors, and conferences, and contribute to the design and development of proprietary software tools used in assessing private market investment opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with mathematical and statistical models to solve important problems in private market investing, including identifying return drivers and attributes of private market portfolios.
  • Participate in original research to answer novel questions and produce investible information across private market asset classes.
  • Help to evaluate clients' private market portfolios, identifying opportunities for active management in order to achieve portfolio objectives.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations for internal investment groups, external investors, and conferences.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and evaluation of proprietary software tools used in the assessment of private market investment opportunities.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university, preferably in a related field (finance, economics, math, statistics, data analysis) with an anticipated graduation date between December 2024 and August 2025.
  • A general understanding of Finance and a strong interest in financial markets.
  • Interest in private markets.
  • Proficiency in statistical tools such as Python, R, Stata, or Matlab.
  • Strong financial analysis, writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • The ability to work both independently and as a productive member of dynamic teams.
