About the position

The Analyst, Research Strategy & Analysis at Sony Pictures Television will support the Drama and Unscripted Lifestyle series by conducting strategic research and data analysis. This role involves utilizing various data sources and methodologies to guide content creation, optimize audience engagement, and enhance the performance of key series throughout their lifecycles. The analyst will work closely with the Director and the team to identify trends, analyze performance, and provide insights that inform decision-making in content development and marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Support the team/Director on SPT Superhero, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Lifestyle Unscripted series.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative primary research studies to track series' performance and optimize development slates.
  • Approach business questions holistically to gather strategic insights from various data sources.
  • Design primary research studies to test concepts, pilots, and series end to end.
  • Produce regular performance reporting and create custom analyses for SPT across drama and lifestyle series.
  • Maintain familiarity with entertainment landscape and industry trends.
  • Leverage studio-wide tools and data sources to understand content performance and audience engagement.
  • Analyze the TV landscape and audience growth opportunities using Nielsen and other consumption data.
  • Utilize social media listening to understand audience needs and test content hypotheses.
  • Enrich and validate multiple data sources to maintain data quality and support report production.

Requirements

  • 2-3+ years experience in media & entertainment research.
  • 2-3+ years experience in consumer insights/market research (qualitative and/or quantitative).
  • Foundational knowledge of the entertainment/TV landscape, including linear networks and streaming platforms.
  • Experience with Nielsen Ratings and other audience measurement tools.
  • Experience working with large data sets.
  • Proficiency with analytical tools like Tableau and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Advanced writing skills and ability to synthesize information.
  • Skilled at data visualization and creating impactful presentations.
  • Exceptional organization, time management, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, listening).
  • Flexible, collaborative personality with a proactive work ethic.
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or Data Sciences.
