About the position

AMC Networks is seeking a Research Analyst to join their research team in New York. This role focuses on optimizing revenue streams through data analysis and strategic insights, supporting decision-making processes within the company. The analyst will collaborate closely with the research team and the Director of Audience Estimating to maintain performance data and produce various reports, providing a great opportunity to learn about the media industry and gain hands-on experience in media research.

Responsibilities

  • Produce various tracking, trending, and competitive performance reports.
  • Maintain and update current schedules in the proprietary estimating system across the 5 linear networks.
  • Input program names on a regular basis using Nielsen systems.
  • Prepare dashboards with visualizations and KPI tracking where needed.
  • Lead small strategic meetings using data to guide recommended strategic insights.
  • Read, summarize, and distribute landscape learnings from various sources.
  • Work with Scheduling, on-air promotion, and Pricing & Inventory departments to ensure estimates are prepared and provided promptly when changes occur.
  • Record and track all estimate changes and update ad sales, finance, programming, and all teams that use the estimates with regular reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
  • Strong ability to focus on the details of data/organization
  • Time management skills
  • Strong mathematical thinking
  • Good understanding of and interest in the media industry
  • Team-oriented mindset
  • Passion for analytics and finding insights
  • Ability to multitask and operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Advanced Excel Skills (comfortable with pivot tables, vlookups, macros, etc.)
  • Experience with data analysis tools beyond Excel (R, Python, STATA, etc.)
