About the position

The Assistant Analyst / Analyst position within the Mayor's Office of Management and Budget (OMB) focuses on monitoring and managing Federal revenue related to the City's response to the Coronavirus pandemic and other disasters. This role involves budget management of significant Federal funding, ensuring accurate fiscal reviews, and supporting the development of accessible financial reports for various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in tracking and managing Federal revenue related to the City's disaster response.
  • Support the fiscal review of $7.2 billion in expenditures for grant reimbursements.
  • Ensure the fiscal impact of Federal grant awards is accurately reflected in the City's budget.
  • Monitor forecast and year-to-date expenditures, conduct risk assessments, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain reports to make expenditure and revenue data accessible to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with agency task forces and the City Comptroller's Office for accounting entries in the Financial Management System.
  • Develop and run ad-hoc queries, InfoAdvantage reports, and SAP Crystal downloads as needed.
  • Support process improvements or analytical projects on an ad-hoc basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Public Policy Analysis/Administration or related field with no or one year of full-time experience for Assistant Analyst.
  • Bachelor's degree in the same fields with a minimum of two years of full-time experience for Analyst, or a Master's degree with one year of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain working relationships.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and motivate others.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new technology quickly.
  • Prior experience with Financial Management System (FMS) is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in budgetary planning/management, financial analysis, audit, compliance, or public policy analysis.
