About the position

As an Analyst/Sr Analyst in International Compensation at American Airlines, you will be an integral part of the Global Compensation and Mobility Team within the People Division. This role is designed for individuals who are ready to explore a world of possibilities, both at work and during their time off. You will assist in the design, development, and implementation of compensation policies, structures, and practices that align with the company's strategic objectives and market trends. Your contributions will support business leaders in addressing their strategic talent needs, ensuring the successful accomplishment of American's mission. In this position, you will serve as a critical resource to all levels of management and other People team members regarding salaries for new hires, promotions, transfers, compensation analysis, and issue resolution. You will develop and implement annual pay plan reviews for assigned countries, conduct job evaluations, create and maintain job codes, and write and edit job descriptions as needed. Additionally, you will market price jobs and perform benchmark analyses to determine the company's competitiveness in the marketplace. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you effectively analyze and use data to provide critical insights to stakeholders on an ad-hoc basis. You will develop analyses, recommendations, and implementation strategies for compensation-related activities such as merit planning and administration, salary structure movement, and incentive plan development. Staying updated on changes in compensation laws and practices across different regions will be essential to your success in this role. The position requires excellent project management, organizational, and follow-up skills to prioritize and complete multiple projects and tasks effectively. Occasional travel may be required to represent the company at airline industry conferences or to engage with business leaders and counterparts in the Compensation and People teams. You will also perform other related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team and the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Examine compensation trends and develop recommendations supporting business initiatives.
  • Stay updated on changes in compensation laws and practices across different regions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and within a team, conduct research, cost analysis, formulate conclusions, and present conclusions regarding business issues.
  • Exhibit excellent project management, organizational, and follow-up skills necessary to prioritize and complete multiple projects and tasks effectively.
  • Occasional travel required to represent the company at airline industry conferences or to engage with business leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience/training.
  • 3-4 years of compensation experience.
  • Work experience in an analytical or quantitative role.

  • Experience in international and executive compensation.
  • Experience with market pricing, job evaluations, and conducting salary analyses.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Previous airline industry experience.
