About the position

As a member of the Revenue Management Team within the Revenue Management Division at American Airlines, the Analyst/Sr Analyst, Revenue Management Market Analysis plays a crucial role in maximizing passenger revenue for a designated geographic region within the airline's extensive network. This position involves utilizing complex models and analytical tools to monitor passenger demand and assess changes in the competitive pricing landscape. The analyst will develop a comprehensive understanding of the marketplace, enabling them to formulate yield and pricing strategies that provide a competitive edge for American Airlines. In this role, the analyst will manage and optimize revenue by creating and implementing inter-departmental strategies based on quantitative analyses of historical passenger demand, competitive dynamics, and consumer purchasing behavior. Building strong relationships with other departments is essential to enhance the effectiveness of projects aimed at improving revenue performance. The analyst will collaborate closely with Pricing Analysts to conduct competitive analyses, determine optimal pricing strategies across the network, and innovate new fare products that respond to shifts in consumer buying habits. Yield Management Analysts will focus on managing each fare product line, taking into account passenger demand and optimizing inventory for various segments of the network. The position also requires presenting original analyses and strategic recommendations to senior management, designing departmental business processes, and evaluating the impact of fare and inventory changes on market performance. The analyst will engage in ad hoc projects that align with the airline's strategic objectives, leading to a deeper understanding of the core economic principles that drive the airline industry. This foundational knowledge positions the analyst for future opportunities within Revenue Management and other sectors of the airline industry.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor passenger demand and changes in the competitive pricing environment using complex models and tools.
  • Develop yield and pricing strategies to drive a competitive advantage for American Airlines.
  • Manage and maximize revenue through inter-departmental strategies based on quantitative analysis of historical passenger demand and competitive environment.
  • Build relationships with other departments to enhance revenue performance projects.
  • Collaborate with Pricing Analysts to determine optimal pricing and create new fare products based on consumer buying habits.
  • Present analyses and strategies to senior management and design departmental business processes.
  • Analyze the effects of fare and inventory changes on market performance and work on ad hoc projects.

Requirements

  • BS in Economics, Finance, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience/training.
  • 1+ years professional experience in applicable/related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Previous experience in Revenue Management or Commercial organizations such as Network Planning, Commercial Planning & Analysis, Seamless Partnerships, or Corporate Sales Strategy.
  • Strong understanding of Pricing/Yield Management tools, reports, systems, and processes.
