About the position

As an Analyst/Sr Analyst in Strategic Planning and Analysis at American Airlines, you will be an integral part of the AAdvantage and Experiences Analytics team within the Travel Rewards Analytics organization, which is part of the Revenue Division. This role is designed for individuals who are ready to explore a world of possibilities, both at work and during their time off. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities, including reporting and analytics on the strategy, design, and execution of American's AAdvantage program, as well as strategic customer analytics to support audience and offer selection within AAdvantage. You will also be involved in forecasting opportunities and valuing various initiatives that support our commercial organization. In this position, you will develop and monitor the effectiveness of revenue strategies and initiatives, including AAdvantage, sales, revenue management, finance, and marketing actions. You will foster relationships and lead discussions with stakeholders across the company, focusing on driving both short- and long-term value to American Airlines. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you analyze the performance of existing partnerships, evaluate new partnerships, and craft creative solutions that drive continuous improvement from American Airlines' inorganic network. Utilizing statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and other analytical methods, you will analyze data and develop practical solutions to business problems. You will present analyses, strategies, and results to all levels of the organization, ensuring that the entire Strategic Planning & Analysis organization has the appropriate level of tool knowledge and is prepared for the future. Aligning teams around commercial strategies, key objectives, and success metrics will be crucial, as will maintaining clear communication across teams and ensuring cross-functional actions are completed. You will tailor communication of complex ideas to both junior and senior-level audiences, perform validation of models to ensure adequacy, define data requirements, and gather and validate information, applying judgment and statistical tests. Additionally, you will develop performance measurements and analytical tools to improve profitability and planning/forecasting processes, as well as reports and proposals related to AAdvantage status population, customer activity, profitability, benefit analysis, and other program health and utilization analysis.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience/training
  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience, or Master's degree in a related field
  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis tools including Excel, Tableau, SQL, and SAS
  • Experience in airline Network Planning, Revenue Management, Commercial, or analytical field
  • Eager to solve complex problems and puzzles in a constrained and dynamic environment
  • Ability to leverage understanding of the airline business and commercial goals to draw insights, drive results, and create innovative solutions
  • Adaptive to new ideas and business processes in an ever-changing marketplace
  • Ability to perform in cross-functional groups with minimal supervision to drive outcomes which benefit the entire airline
  • Skilled at sharing knowledge to develop the expertise of the team as a whole
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
