About the position

The Analyst position within the Strategy organization focuses on financial planning and reporting activities, specifically supporting the regulated distribution and transmission business segment. This role involves financial forecasting and analysis, as well as direct coordination with FirstEnergy's consolidated financial results. The Analyst will prepare timely and accurate energy, peak load, and revenue forecasts to assist business units and management in decision-making processes. The responsibilities of the Analyst include supporting customer, energy, and revenue forecast processes, streamlining existing forecasting processes, and developing new methods to enhance accuracy and efficiency. The role requires effective use of data mining and analytical tools to improve forecasting processes and prepare relevant analyses. The Analyst will evaluate forecast input data for accuracy, detect trends and outliers, and support regulatory filings related to forecasts. Additionally, the Analyst will coordinate periodic actual results and forecasting data reporting, ensuring excellent customer service through timely and accurate information, analysis, and reporting. Building positive working relationships with employees at all levels is crucial, as is the ability to offer ideas and suggestions for improving complex work processes and projects. The Analyst will also track and analyze financial key performance indicators and maintain a safe workplace for coworkers. This position requires a strong understanding of FirstEnergy's financial and strategic goals, as well as the ability to perform various customer analyses by compiling, analyzing, and comparing large volumes of billing data.

Responsibilities

  • Support the customer, energy and revenue forecast processes
  • Streamline existing and develop new forecasting processes to improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Effective use of data mining and analytical tools to enhance forecast processes and prepare relevant analyses
  • Evaluate forecast input data for accuracy, with the ability to detect trends and outliers
  • Support regulatory filings related to forecasts
  • Coordinating periodic actual results and forecasting data reporting, including various forms of financial management schedules
  • Providing excellent customer service through timely and accurate information, analysis and reporting
  • Able to develop positive working relationships with employees at all levels
  • Offer ideas and suggestions to improve complex work processes and projects
  • Supporting the tracking and analysis of the financial key performance indicators
  • Developing effective working relationships with employees at all levels of FirstEnergy

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Finance or related discipline required
  • Minimum 10 years relevant work experience is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience working with large datasets
  • Experience with programming languages, such as Python, R, and SQL a plus
  • Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results, and develop relationships
