About the position

As an Analytics and Power BI Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Operational Excellence team at General Dynamics Land Systems, a leading aerospace and defense company. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about driving measurable improvements within the Engineering organization. Your primary responsibility will be to understand customer needs and determine the appropriate data requirements to implement solutions that yield data-driven improvements. You will utilize a variety of tools, including databases, analytics tools, Excel, and Power BI, to achieve these objectives. In this position, you will create and test data models to ensure accuracy in dashboard reporting, which will provide valuable insights and highlight process trends. You will leverage internal business systems and associated data to support various business needs while maintaining the current suite of Engineering dashboards. A critical aspect of your role will involve investigating and resolving data delivery issues for Power BI dashboards, including data source issues and report refresh challenges. You will also support data security and governance policies, ensuring compliance with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) standards. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will lead and facilitate cross-functional teams to coordinate the implementation of comprehensive automation and improvement initiatives. This will require interfacing with IT and Security teams to identify and resolve both planned and unplanned technical challenges. You will conduct requirements analysis with stakeholders to architect data models that meet business needs, ensuring that the data is clean and filtered for various analysis requests.

Responsibilities

  • Create and test data models to ensure data accuracy in dashboard reporting.
  • Leverage internal business systems and associated data to support business needs.
  • Maintain the current suite of Engineering dashboards.
  • Investigate and resolve data delivery issues for Power BI dashboards.
  • Support data security and governance policies (CUI).
  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional teams for automation/improvement initiatives.
  • Interface with IT/Security to resolve technical challenges.
  • Determine data needs and clean/filter data for analysis requests.
  • Conduct requirements analysis with stakeholders on dashboard visualizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in data Analytics or other Engineering degree supplemented with appropriate experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in data analytics and business intelligence.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, data modeling, DAX Query, and data cleaning.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and be a self-starter.
  • Willingness to work in office, lab, prototype, and test site environments.
  • Eligibility to obtain a US security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with additional analytics tools beyond Power BI.
  • Familiarity with data governance and security policies.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams.
