About the position

The Analytics Engineer - Finance at EquipmentShare is responsible for translating financial and accounting concepts into actionable data models. This role involves building and maintaining data models, ensuring data quality, and developing pipelines to support financial analytics across the company. The position is crucial for driving impactful analytics and requires a strong understanding of both financial data and data engineering principles.

Responsibilities

  • Translate between financial and accounting concepts and data
  • Build and maintain data models quickly, refining over time to get production models
  • Reduce tribal complexity of querying financial/accounting data
  • Develop pipelines and testing automation to ensure financial data quality and integrity
  • Strong owner in developing business-centric data models with minimal guidance and comfort deriving answers from ambiguity
  • Codify business rules into data models/testing

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, data science, statistics, information technology or related fields
  • 4+ years of SQL experience, creating complex SQL solutions to business problems
  • 4+ years of experience data modeling
  • 2+ years of experience reporting/querying cross-functional financial & accounting data (GL, AP, purchasing)
  • Experience working in dbt or related tool
  • Experience developing test automation using any orchestration tools - Airflow or Dagster
  • Experience with git is a plus
