About the position

The Analytics Engineer at Children's Home Society of Florida is responsible for providing clean data sets and performing data modeling to empower end users. This role involves training business users on data visualization tools and contributing to the organization's high performance by delivering quality results. The position plays a crucial role in enhancing the understanding and evaluation of data within the organization, ultimately impacting the services provided to children and families in Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business users and data team members to translate and build dataset representations and tools.
  • Lead efforts to design data models and build curated data sets for reporting and analytics.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create analytics pipelines.
  • Work with disparate data from multiple systems and sources.
  • Explore and implement additional tools to support operational and analytical data needs.
  • Remove and reduce technical debt and automate manual operations.
  • Manipulate raw data to make it more organized and easier to analyze.
  • Transform, test, extract, and load data while providing continuous integration.
  • Help advance the Data Analytics IQ of CHS by socializing best practices and training resources.
  • Interpret requests from stakeholders and translate those requirements into actionable insights.
  • Maintain all data documentation and transfer data from various sources into a common destination for analysis.
  • Work with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical user stories.
  • Participate in decision making on the analytics roadmap for all CHS business lines.
  • Train CHS business users on Data Visualization and Analytics Tools.
  • Support project initiatives and work plans for different CHS business lines and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with CHS IT security and privacy regulations.
  • Prepare and disseminate updates and reports to management regarding task assignments.
  • Build organizational relationships and collaborate with team members, vendors, and contractors.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Statistics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or IT; Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • 5-7 years of significant experience in data-driven landscapes.
  • Data Analytics or Engineering Certifications in Google, IBM, Power BI, CompTIA, or others are a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in database query languages (i.e., SQL).
  • Experience with programming languages and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience with BI Tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Looker, etc.
  • Experience with cloud-based Data Warehousing such as RedShift, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, etc.
  • GIT experience or other recognized code versioning platform.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in software engineering best practices.
  • Data Analytics or Engineering Certifications in Google, IBM, Power BI, CompTIA, or others.
