About the position

As an Analytics Engineer I at Oscar, you will play a crucial role in the data pipeline, transforming raw data into Certified Datasets (CDS) for the Finance team. This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data, optimizing code, and implementing quality assurance checks. You will also guide Engineering in the correct implementation of financial data models in production systems, making this role vital for supporting accounting and actuarial processes.

Responsibilities

• Become a financial data subject matter expert and organize raw data sources into CDS.
• Partner with the Finance team to expand finance CDS and integrate them into Finance's systems.
• Facilitate automation of Finance team processes by programming reports based on complex queries.
• Validate updates to raw financial data structure with Engineering and update CDS code accordingly.
• Promote data fidelity in upstream data producing systems and expand quality checks within finance CDS.
• Conduct root cause analyses of financial data defects and escalate to upstream data owners.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience working with SQL.
• 1+ years of experience developing in a semantic modeling language (e.g. LookML).
• 1+ years of experience developing within a modern data transformation tool like DBT.
• 1+ years of experience with cloud database tools (GCP, AWS, Azure).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with healthcare data, analytics and reporting, particularly with claims payments data.
• Experience with GCP and/or DBT.
• A background in healthcare and/or insurance.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
