About the position

The Analytics Engineer III at Republic Services is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining analytics and reporting solutions. This role involves leading projects, mentoring developers, and ensuring the implementation of effective ETL processes, data warehouses, and dashboards. The position requires staying updated on technology trends and developing technology road maps to support data-driven decision-making within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Designs, validates, and evaluates solutions using R, Python, SQL, and other programming tools.
• Designs and builds pricing optimization algorithms and rules-based pricing recommendations for new and existing customers.
• Designs and implements the architecture, tools, and processes needed to provide the 'single source of truth' for data-driven decision making.
• Develops and manages end-to-end project plans and ensures on-time delivery.
• Educates and mentors team members on data, reports, and tools.
• Writes ETL scripts using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or similar tools to process new data into the data warehouse.
• Designs and builds automated processes that leverage Excel, SQL, and VBA for data transfer across teams.
• Designs dashboards and tools for user interaction with data.
• Implements in-database machine learning solutions using SQL Server and R/Python.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master's degree in an analytical field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, Engineering).
• 7 years of demonstrated experience working with relational databases in developing ETL processes and implementing data and analytics solutions.
• 7 years of experience maintaining databases and tools in a production environment, including query performance tuning and proactive maintenance.
• Demonstrated expertise in formal software development methodologies.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing and maintaining pricing optimization and/or operational efficiency algorithms in a cloud computing environment (e.g. AWS) or enterprise IT environments.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency with relational databases and the ability to write SQL queries.
• Proficiency with programming in R or Python in data science and/or engineering settings.
• Proficiency with Excel and PowerBI.
• Proficiency with source control (e.g. Github, SVN, Tortoise) in a multi-developer environment.
• Proficiency with cloud computing environments (e.g. AWS).
