About the position

The Analytics Engineer I position at The Waldinger Corporation is an entry-level role focused on building and optimizing data models to support business analytics and reporting. The role involves collaboration with senior engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure high-quality data models that facilitate effective use of business intelligence tools like Tableau. Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and maintaining data models in Snowflake using dbt to support business analytics and reporting needs.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes under guidance from senior team members.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data models.
  • Help build and manage data pipelines and workflows using dbt and other ETL tools.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the data lifecycle, with a focus on learning and applying best practices.
  • Develop data models that provide the foundation for Tableau dashboards and other BI visualizations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data issues as they arise, with mentorship from senior engineers.
  • Learn and stay updated on the latest data engineering and analytics technologies and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in analytics, data engineering, or related role (internships or project work acceptable).
  • Experience in writing SQL queries and working with data models.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing, ETL, or BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Willingness to learn dbt, git, CI/CD, and Python, with a strong interest in developing a career in data engineering and analytics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Some experience or coursework in data engineering, analytics, or relevant fields.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure) is a plus.
