About the position

The Analytics Engineer role at Simply Business is part of the global Data and Analytics team, focusing on empowering data-driven decision-making. This position is crucial for providing analytical support to business stakeholders, leading the measurement and evaluation of product value streams, and continuously improving product investment effectiveness. The role requires collaboration with engineering and product teams to ensure that reporting and analytics requirements are met, while also translating business use cases into analytical problems that drive operational efficiencies and customer conversion.

Responsibilities

  • Creating data models in the Snowflake data warehouse
  • Integrating new sources of data to enrich analytical capabilities
  • Working with engineering and product teams to ensure application design accommodates reporting and analytics requirements
  • Collaborating with various business and engineering teams to ensure reliable, scalable, robust architecture for analytics platform and ETL pipelines
  • Partnering with stakeholders to identify business use cases and translating them into analytical problems to build, test, and productionize
  • Focusing on use cases that drive operational efficiencies as the organization scales
  • Increasing the organization's ability to convert more customers
  • Communicating data-driven insights and recommendations to non-technical audiences
  • Contributing to longer-term strategic DNA projects

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of overall experience in data & analytics, with operational analytics experience desired
  • Degree in analytics or software engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake or similar
  • Experience designing and creating SQL data models (dbt experience a plus)
  • Strong communication and data presentation skills using effective data visualization and BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Effective at building strong, influential relationships with colleagues and partners
  • Self-starter comfortable working in a globally distributed team environment
