During the 10-week internship program, interns will gain valuable work experience and insight into the operations of the nation's leading health care company. Each intern will be assigned to a team that aligns with their career aspirations, allowing them to influence business recommendations to senior leadership and work closely with a dedicated mentor and manager. This supportive environment encourages interns to build relationships, drive innovation, and adopt a growth mindset. Interns will also have access to analyst training and curriculum designed to equip them with foundational knowledge, enabling them to become subject matter experts. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to visit our Minnesota Headquarters, which is geared towards networking and professional development. The overarching goal of our internship program is to prioritize people and remain committed to our mission of helping individuals lead healthier lives while enhancing the health system for all. This is a full-time summer internship position requiring 40 standard business hours from Monday to Friday, running from June 3, 2025, to August 8, 2025. Please note that there will be no exceptions for early or late date requests, and housing and relocation assistance are available for this position. UnitedHealth Group is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role, either now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis to provide business solutions
  • Communicate analysis and interpretation to appropriate audience
  • Analyze reporting related to the development and performance of products, processes and technologies
  • Assist team leads with various research projects pertaining to multiple content areas or business needs
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support strategic business initiatives
  • Use relevant data to make fact-based decisions
  • Maintain databases, report, and extract data for various reports and analyses, initiating database improvement
  • Conduct audits and provide feedback to reduce errors and improve processes and performance
  • Provide explanation and information to others on process improvement initiatives
  • Collect relevant information by pulling and analyzing data from multiple systems
  • Support team members with managing the development of products
  • Support team members with the planning, organization and direct the completion of a project

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university during the internship
  • Experience with analytics or project/product management through student clubs, personal projects or other forms of employment
  • Ability to work the full-time standard business working hours during the duration of the internship
  • Ability to work in-office 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) in your designated site location
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future

Nice-to-haves

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Relevant healthcare business related experience
  • Data analysis experience through student clubs, personal projects or other forms of employment
  • Experience working with data manipulation with SQL, Azure, Spark and/or big data tools, data management or efficient storage methods
  • Experience with Data Visualization Tools (Tableau, Power Bi, Qlik, JavaScript, Visualization, Alteryx)
  • Completed a college level course in data analytics, data science, project/product management or business analysis.
