About the position

The Analytics Internship Program at UnitedHealth Group offers a unique opportunity for interns to gain hands-on experience in the healthcare industry. This 10-week program is designed to provide meaningful work experience and exposure to the nation's leading health care company. Interns will be assigned to teams that align with their career aspirations, allowing them to influence business recommendations to senior leadership teams. Each intern will partner with a dedicated mentor and manager who will support them in tackling challenges that are of key importance to the company. The program emphasizes building relationships, driving innovation, and fostering a growth mindset among participants. Throughout the internship, interns will have access to analyst training and curriculum designed to equip them with foundational knowledge necessary to become subject matter experts. They will also have the opportunity to experience the Minnesota Headquarters, which is geared towards networking and professional development. The overarching goal of the internship is to prioritize people and stay true to UnitedHealth Group's mission of helping people live healthier lives and improving the health system for everyone. This is a full-time summer internship position, requiring interns to work 40 standard business hours from Monday to Friday, starting from June 3, 2025, to August 8, 2025. Interns will be required to be in the office three days a week, specifically Tuesday through Thursday, and housing and relocation assistance are available for this position. It is important to note that UnitedHealth Group is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this internship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis to provide business solutions
  • Communicate analysis and interpretation to appropriate audience
  • Analyze reporting related to the development and performance of products, processes and technologies
  • Assist team leads with various research projects pertaining to multiple content areas or business needs
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support strategic business initiatives
  • Use relevant data to make fact-based decisions
  • Maintain databases, report, and extract data for various reports and analyses, initiating database improvement
  • Conduct audits and provide feedback to reduce errors and improve processes and performance
  • Provide explanation and information to others on process improvement initiatives
  • Collect relevant information by pulling and analyzing data from multiple systems
  • Support team members with managing the development of products
  • Support team members with the planning, organization and direct the completion of a project

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university during the internship
  • Completed an analytics related course (data, stats, economic, machine learning, etc.)
  • Completed a project/project management course
  • Relevant healthcare business related experience
  • Data analysis experience through student clubs, personal projects or other forms of employment
  • Experience working with SQL, Data visualization, or Tableau
  • Ability to work full-time summer internship from June 3, 2025 - August 8, 2025
  • Ability to work in-office 3 days a week (Tuesday-Thursday) in your designated site location
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship

Nice-to-haves

  • Pursuing degree in Information Technology, Healthcare, Project Management, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Data Analytics, or another business-related field
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
