About the position

The Anchor/Multi-Skilled Journalist at TEGNA Inc. is a key role responsible for delivering news content across various platforms, including on-air and digital. This position requires a creative and innovative journalist who excels in accountability reporting and breaking news, with a strong commitment to local news and community engagement. The anchor will lead newscast production, develop compelling stories, and represent the station at community events, all while maintaining a strong social media presence.

Responsibilities

• Anchor newscasts and cut-ins, along with any breaking news on-air or on digital platforms.
• Generate viewer and brand-focused story/show ideas and content.
• Deliver stories on-air/digital platforms in an engaging, informative, and conversational manner.
• Utilize social media for news gathering and community engagement.
• Produce short-and-long form community content/specials for multiple platforms.
• Collaborate with management, producers, and reporters to create engaging newscasts and improve content.
• Represent WCNC-TV at community events.
• Take a leadership role in newscast production with strong news judgment.
• Perform other tasks as required by management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in communications or related field.
• Minimum of three to five years of on-air experience as a news reporter.
• Ability to report in a broad range of styles with good on-air/live presentation skills.
• Strong on-camera delivery with the ability to ad-lib.
• Demonstrated ability to post graphics and content to various digital media platforms.
• Excellent, creative presentation and writing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong social media presence.
• Passion for community involvement and ability to build new connections.
• Innovative mindset that generates creative solutions on projects.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule.
• Current valid driver's license and excellent driving history.
