About the position

The Anchor/Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) at Spectrum News 1 is responsible for delivering engaging newscasts and connecting with local communities through storytelling. This role involves pitching stories, reporting in the field, and anchoring news segments across various platforms, including television and digital media. The position requires a balance between reporting and anchoring, with a focus on creating character-driven content that resonates with viewers.

Responsibilities

  • Pitch stories and deliver engaging newscasts.
  • Report from the field to discover original stories.
  • Create timely, accurate, and character-driven content.
  • Work collaboratively with a team to produce news across multiple platforms.
  • Engage with the local community to inform and connect viewers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of television news anchoring experience.
  • 5+ years of television news reporting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or comparable television work experience.
  • Technical skills in video editing, still photography, and social media marketing.
  • Strong writing and anchoring skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license for authorized driving in the state of residence.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a 24-hour news channel.
  • Political experience preferred.
