About the position

The Anchor/Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) at Spectrum News is responsible for connecting with local communities through storytelling and news delivery. This role involves pitching stories, reporting in the field, and anchoring newscasts across various platforms, including television and digital media. The position requires a balance of creativity, technical skills, and a commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Pitch and develop original news stories.
  • Deliver engaging newscasts both in-studio and on location.
  • Report on various news events and issues affecting local communities.
  • Collaborate with a team to create timely and accurate content.
  • Utilize digital platforms to reach audiences effectively.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in television news anchoring.
  • 5+ years of experience in television news reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in video editing and still photography.
  • Strong social media marketing skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a 24-hour news channel.
