The News Department at TelevisaUnivision is seeking a dedicated Anchor/Reporter to join our team in San Jose. This role is pivotal in serving our local community by delivering news coverage that is both informative and engaging. As an Anchor/Reporter, you will be responsible for generating story ideas and maintaining relationships with community leaders, government officials, and local authorities. Your ability to present reports in a clear, concise, and objective manner is essential, as is your talent for crafting enterprising stories and sweeps series ideas. You will be expected to be a team player with solid news judgment and an active user of social media for newsgathering, demonstrating a capacity to engage audiences across both linear and digital platforms. In your daily responsibilities, you will anchor and report for assigned newscasts, gather information, conduct interviews, and produce and edit stories under tight deadlines. You will also be tasked with generating original content, posting videos and pictures for our digital assets, and leading Facebook Lives while collaborating with our Digital content producers to create engaging content for YouTube and other social media platforms. A strong familiarity with local, state, and national news is crucial, as is the ability to establish and maintain strong community contacts. You will work closely with photographers in the field, adapting to various weather conditions while maintaining a positive work atmosphere. To succeed in this role, you should possess a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or television broadcasting, along with five years of newsroom experience in anchoring and reporting. A solid resume reel showcasing your camera presentation skills, vocal delivery, and clear enunciation is required. Proficiency in both Spanish and English, both written and verbal, is essential. Familiarity with newsroom computer systems, including iNews and Adobe Premiere, is preferred. You must also adhere to high ethical and journalistic standards and be prepared to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. A valid driver's license with a good driving record is mandatory, along with the physical ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds. Membership in SAG-AFTRA is required for this position.
