About the position

The Android Architect will lead the performance optimization of a complex consumer-based Android mobile application, collaborating closely with a program architect to enhance both Android and iOS applications for a financial service. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in Android development and architecture design, focusing on delivering optimal performance and user experience across various devices.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve the architecture of the Android application for scalability and performance.
• Analyze and identify performance bottlenecks in the Android application.
• Implement best practices to optimize app speed and resource utilization.
• Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to performance standards.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and backend engineers to align architectural decisions with business goals.
• Provide technical leadership and coaching to a pod of up to six Android-focused software engineers.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to the growth of the Android development team.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Android development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or architectural role.
• Proven experience in performance optimization for large-scale mobile applications.
• Strong understanding of Android SDK, Kotlin/Java, and modern architectural patterns (e.g., MVVM, Clean Architecture).
• Hands-on experience with profiling tools and optimization techniques.
