About the position

The Android Associate Developer/Developer position at American Airlines is part of the Information Technology Team, focusing on developing and supporting web-based, mobile-aware Java applications and web services. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to understand requirements and development needs while enhancing skills and gaining valuable experience in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain applications, including bug fixes, feature enhancements, and performance tuning.
  • Research and implement new technology to enhance processes, security, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex issues; identify and implement solutions.
  • Work with a team to create detailed project specifications, requirements, and estimates, ensuring timely completion of tasks/projects.
  • Collaborate with production operations to ensure smooth deployments and appropriate support for customer groups.
  • Document validation of design decisions.
  • Support the enforcement of policy and procedural changes within the development group.
  • Contribute to the development of coding standards and adhere to best practices and security guidelines.
  • Participate in code reviews.
  • Provide on-call production support (24 x 7 x 365) as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems, Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training.
  • 2 years total development experience.
  • 2 years of Android development experience.
  • 1 year web application or services experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of total development experience.
  • 2+ years of web application experience.
  • Airline Industry experience.
